Any list of places to shop in Mumbai would be lacking without the addition of Fabindia. Locals love it as well as tourists, and for good reason: good quality ready-to-wear fashions for women and men as well as housewares, personal care items, and organic food (they have a partnership with Organic India). I’ve been only to the Fort location but there are hundreds of stores throughout India and the world, including—oddly—Plano, Texas.
Lucknow Chikan

If you don’t mind digging through piles of clothing under the scrutiny of a shopkeeper who is less than helpful, then Lucknow Chikan can be a great place to discover traditional hand-made kurta and tops. Not cheap, but not too expensive either. Walk up to the first floor to find the store.
