Travel Guides & Resources

General Guides

Ayurvedic Treatment Centers
This list was compiled based on my research on various websites as well as suggestions from Ayurveda professionals I know from online groups and personally. There will not be enough time for me to visit all of them, but those that I experience personally I will review in my blog.

Dangers & Annoyances
India is a fascinating country with a rich cultural heritage, but as a solo female traveler, there are special considerations to keep in mind while making your journey. The best tip I can give you is to cultivate a sense of patience during your travels while you experience the highs and lows of a typical day in India.

India Train Travel
Trains are a great way to get around India on the cheap while seeing the countryside. Read my train travel tips to learn about what to expect when traveling to your next destination by rail.

Where to Eat
The food in India is an experience that you won’t forget. My list of places to eat, organized by city, will not always feature the most healthy choices, but a little indulgence is food for the soul.

Where to Shop
Remember to pack lightly before your trip so you will have room for all the treasures you will discover while shopping in India. From clothing to jewelry to furniture, you can find some amazing deals here, and the treasures you take home will delight you long after your journey has ended.

Cities and Regions

Palolem Beach
Called by some “India’s Most Beautiful Beach,” Palolem Beach in South Goa is crescent-shaped wonder with clean sand, warm water, delightful restaurants, hotels, shops, and more things to do than a week will hold.

Varkala Beach and Trivandrum
Check out the beaches, restaurants, temples, and palaces of Trivandrum before heading north to laid back, mystical Varkala Beach, where devout Hindus come to offer pooja to their ancestors while tourists practice yoga on the beach or collect in cafés on the cliff above to sip cappuccinos.

Wayanad District
One of the best places to see Asiatic elephants in the wild, Wayanad boasts two wildlife sanctuaries and borders another in neighboring Karnataka. There is plenty to do when not on safari, and your itinerary can include touring vast tea plantations, religious ruins, waterfalls, and beautiful mountains and lakes.
